A poem with these words: JOURNEY PATIENCE KINGDOM WORTH

The forest floor shows how the

Insect kingdom lives

gathers food from

fresh and decaying vegetation

I watch how ants

collectively work

to feed their colony

Each ant contributes

and supports the whole

These creatures seem small but

quite significant to our world

As they irrigate the landscape

directing the movement

of water through earth

the journey of shifting elements

creating new forms as the environment

continuously changes

Patience must be

an innate way of being for an ant

as many humans displaces soil and water

on a regular basis

without further thought

of the consequences

or cause and effect

of our actions

Yet these tiny beings work

endlessly to rebuild and restore

their surroundings without complaining

the value of ants is worth

more than we would every know

because they provide a steady

and intentional relationship with

earth, water and their home.

Running into You

No, I didn't knock you down,
but my heart felt
your presence
approaching.

My heart fluttered with excitement
at that chance occurrence.

Someone familiar
evoked pleasant thoughts
and feelings.

Our smiles expanded
in unison upon greeting.

A sense of deep appreciation
is releasing.

Embarrassment flushes my cheeks,
arising as my inner child
wants to embrace you
as memories of sweetness
surface.

It may be a quick encounter
with hellos and
"Hey, how are you?"

Then, "Let's meet up,"
followed by a waving goodbye.

Yes, our schedules
do not align, but
this short and sweet
moment has reminded me
there is nothing to deny.

I like you.
I love you.
I think you are grand.

I am grateful

that we once held hands.

For truly our hearts
spoke and sang together
as I said,

"It was great
running into you,
my dear friend."

You Are Needed Here

Your gentle nature is needed here
With all the forces that arise from fear
A sweet smile or a lovely tune
Can shift the mood of any room

Side by Side

Hold on to the peace
Within your soul
Know that life is full of
laughter and sorrow
and time to heal all

Tell the world about your joys
I am learning about
songs of peace and light
Oh you will see

You are one of a kind
And your spirit will know
which way to go

The world is full of posters
and signs leading to the light
Allow yourself time to shine
as you return to the source of
who you are

Oh you are one of a kind
Let yourself see
the beauty of who you are

For songs of peace begins
with you and me

Side by side

Song of a Willow Tree

I, may be, a weeping willow
But I'm as happy as can be.
The win
d blows my leaves
and they kiss the ground beneath.

I, may be, a weeping willow,
and sway with the mighty breeze.
My roots are very shallow
but I'm a strong tree.

I, may be, a weeping willow,
but I'm a happy being.
The world keeps on moving
but I'm as steady as can be.

I, may be, a weeping willow
But I'm a happy tree.
The wind blows my leaves
and they bless the ground beneath.

Hopes Upon Low Whispers

I have taken your sex
and created my own world.
Flowing energy deep within.
Waves of emotions and spiritual overtones,
connection to the outer planets,
vast and endless space.
Grounded by something real
this physical plane of flesh and bone,
blood and sweat.
Fear created by unknown elements.
Standing by the river banks,
watching the horizon slowly disappear.
Closing my eyes to feel the wind,
expecting this journey to last.
Carrying my hopes upon low whispers
of me saying your name.

On My Mind and In My Mouth

You're on my mind and in my mouth.
Running through my dreams
and the passing visions as I sit.
I speak of YOU to everyone,
smiling and shining.

Beaming from the thought
that you are so close.
Only a short distance away.
Each hour passes quickly
and I know I will be near you.

I replay your smile and laughter.
The way you touch your face
when you have something difficult to say.
Stroking your hair back with your right hand
and looking up to the sky.

Your expressive groan of a full belly
after a good meal startling pedestrians.
The subtle pull of my jacket
as you ask me to be practical
with my time and schedule.

Drinking tea, listening to your poetry
full of depth and anger of your past.
Hearing the strength in your voice
knowing you had enough.
You are going forward,
journeying with your aching heart.
Reaching out to the shadows
to cast them away completely.

These are the things
on my mind and in my mouth.

I see your eyes,
deep brown, warm and tender.
I sense trust without any questions.
The stories of the past
released by your kisses.
I feel your kisses
soft pink, wet and strong.
I know love without any questions.

Who are we?  Are we real?
The keys under my fingers
lightly pressed and moving smoothly.
Letters strolling across my screen,
Words forming and creating sentences.
The world is silent and the night sky
is blocked by the light of my computer.
I can not stop this.
This writing to you.

Wanting to place my lips
upon your ears.
Whispering softly to you.
Taking in your scent.
Feeling your heart beat
against my naked breasts.

Is this real?
The feeling of closeness
yet me being here
and you there.

Can you feel me in your bed
as you sleep, as I feel you?

YOU ARE
on my mind and in my mouth.

(This was writing years ago to a former partner.  We separated and I was still holding on.  I'm posting it now because it was a major healing and transformative time for me.  I had difficulties expressing my feelings and connection to this person.  We all go through changes in our relationships.  Some of my poetry and songs came from this time in my life.  Thanks for reading.)

Even With the Distance Roads

Walking along a moonlight beam

looking for your arms to hold me.

Dreaming on a shooting star

even now, you're not so far.

Baby, you've made my day

saying you'll might stay.

Taking life as it comes

knowing we are still one

Even with the distance roads

my love for you continues to grow.

Baby, you're not by my side

but, I'll take this ride.

Love you now and tomorrow,

letting go of all my sorrows.

Loving you, how can I go wrong?

Knowing we are still strong.

Even with the distance roads

my love for you continues to grow

Baby, you're not by my side

but, I'll take this ride.

Calmness

Humming of the train,
a little sound rising from the base.

                Stopped.

Waiting for the movement to start again,
this is the pulse of life.

Little  breaks to silence
to notice what is around the world.

              Calmness.

Simple feeling of joy,
and acceptance.

Truth, expression of beauty
and sharing the way of inner peace.

Sensing the Environment

The scent of fertile earth,
wanting to plant seeds for a beautiful garden.
A garden of my spiritual world.

The texture of ground,
gives way to the turning and sowing of my soul.
Events where I can expand.

The sight of moist soil,
knowing the environment is ripe for change.
And bathing in the sun.

The sound of wind blowing
gently asking me to move and sway.
The life of my party today.

The taste of nut like air,
reminding me of the crunchy walnuts
and stories of old holy lands.

The emotions of noble consciousness,
awakens joy and pain equally
from inner and outer realms.

Dragonflies

Afternoon heat with sun's ray.
Dragonflies dances and sways.

Colours bounce from the flickering of wings.
They hum like the angels' sings.

Zigzag motions, highs and lows.
Why not dance with their lovely tones?

Daffodil's Cup

Mixed signs and signals when words are placed by the wayside.
Guessing and looking for clues when a direct approach is preferred.
Forging with one eye open and the other clouded with red dye.
Being honest with one’s heart clears the forest floor like a gust of wind.

An area of expertise would be greatly appreciated.

The appearance of objects scattered over the ocean’s surface drifting with currents.
The gravitational forces driving towards each other with impact of the unknown outcome faces them.
Steer wisely, one may ask using oars of daffodil's cup.
The gentle curves of the flower's face with wishes of a bright beginning and thus another day.

Stories to be Told

How do you know where to start?
Feelings that take control of your life.
Standing waiting for the train
listening to music that
only you can hear.
Drifting to and from
distance tones and tempos.
Your breathing changes
even your heart beats differently.
Music is a part of your life.
Remembering something from your past
and then having the sense of being whole.
Taking a moment in
your busy day to
connect with yourself.
Love is in your heart
something hiding
but visible to you
if you ask for it.

Precious Life

Precious life
starting out new
in the arms of a caregiver.

They teach us with
gentle and sweet kisses
tenderness and love.

This love - that awakens our spirit.

Creating a smile and a sense
of endless hope from within.

Hope that can shine
through the darkest of clouds.
Illustrations of light
containing multiple dimensions.

Opening of one’s soul can - change the world.

This world of everlasting relationships,
balancing on this fine thread of life.

Moments to give selflessly,
by giving completely.

Taken with cherished notions,
and deepening one’s compassion.

Life as a Teenage Mother

Left to start a new life
carried my children in my arms
Hope, even when the future was unknown

Courage to face challenges
single young mother of twin one year olds
Knocked on doors to find a home

Relieved to find an empty space
a place to call our own
Broke down the stereotypes

Stood up against the odds
learned what I could
Studied to get my college degree

Fought with TTC drivers
Told I didn't have a place
amongst the working class

Decided not to give up my dream
faced reality and told it to move aside
Three years later, diploma in hand

White Buffalo

We looked upon each other and bowed
I stepped forward as we gazed into each other’s eyes
The beauty of this majestic creature filled my spirit
It laid down and offered its life to me

Me, you give your life for me?

Yes, I give you my fur to cover and cloth you.
Yes, I give you my flesh to feed you.
Yes, I give you my spirit to walk with you.
Yes.

I can’t take your life as I feel you must live.

Understand that I offer you what you need
I offer you what I have.

I am grateful and honoured for your gift
Your life as a gift
I will cherish and pray for your spirit
I will share your gift with those around me
I will share your story so that we will remember
I will give as you have given to me

I’m not asking you to give your life
I ask that you share what you can give
All creatures are sacred
Pray for all to receive
Show gratitude for what was and is given

Childhood Friend

Friendship from my past
came back into my life.
Memories of you always
warmed my heart.

It's been too long since
I've seen your smile.
Waiting for you to return
with blazing and shining light.

Why did we drift apart?
Does it truly matter?
We've reconnected now
let's continue to grow.

You've told me you're ill
and require some added love.
I'll be there for you,
don't doubt it for a moment.

Our friendship is strong.
We've gone through a lot,
Please don't
hesitate to ask.

Put the idea aside,
I'll be awake at dawn
I'll take you to the hospital
I'll wait by your side.

Flowering Roses

As time passes the first rose
opens to reveal its true beauty.

All is calm.
All is peaceful.

After the first has proven
it can be done,
others venture forth
and blossom
one by one.

Thank you dear rose

for your bravery and strength
as you face the world with
all your uniqueness and beauty.

Pattern of Light

A vision on the street below,
a chain link of shadows
intertwining darkness and light.
The earth slowly turns
and the pattern change.
Still integrate,
yet it is
simply a reflection
of our mirror glass world.
It invites you to gazes,
to follow
the light's sudden movements.
Sound lowers to a gentle hum
as you get lost in live art.
Moving shapes from
squares to concaved figures.
These diamonds of light
reminding you to have faith
that everything is happening
the way it should.

What's Your Colours?

Expressing ourselves through colours,
a form of emotional truths,
rising from a person's heart.

Having substance beyond the sensing vision
their temperatures radiate at different levels,
you can feel them at any distance.

People never know their source
until they reflect on their inner colours.
