Life as a Teenage Mother

Left to start a new life
carried my children in my arms
Hope, even when the future was unknown

Courage to face challenges
single young mother of twin one year olds
Knocked on doors to find a home

Relieved to find an empty space
a place to call our own
Broke down the stereotypes

Stood up against the odds
learned what I could
Studied to get my college degree

Fought with TTC drivers
Told I didn't have a place
amongst the working class

Decided not to give up my dream
faced reality and told it to move aside
Three years later, diploma in hand
